Admissions

Thank you for your interest in our school.

You are welcome to apply for any Form through this portal. However, due to increasing demand in our Senior Years Programme, we recommend applying for earlier forms – or beginning your journey with us in the Early Years.

Following the introduction of the Admissions Act 2018 schools are no longer able to accept applications for day places until October 1 in the year preceding the year of entry. Applications for boarding may be made a year earlier. All Day pupils applying for a place, must visit the school before entry. Applicants should complete this application form and return it to the admissions office with the appropriate fee.

Candidates are invited to meet with the school and tour our facilities before entry.

The first round of offers are made during the course of the Autumn term, but you should contact the school outside of these dates, as there may be places available.

At Headfort we have always been small, and we always will be, this is what makes us so unique, it is also what makes our learning so rich, and our connections so deep. Our average class size is 12, and our Junior and Senior Infants, and our Senior One classes are capped at 15 students per class.

Applications for the 2026 – 2027 academic year are now open.

Boarding Students

Boarding has always been at the heart of Headfort, our school attracting families from as far away as Japan, and as close as County Meath. As Ireland’s only day and boarding primary school, we stand alone in our ability to provide for our students a learning experience unlike any other in the world.

We are proud of the history we have built in our Boarding House and invite you to learn more about life as a Boarder HERE.

Our boarders can reside on campus in three ways:

7 Day Boarding – for students who are with us from overseas.

5 Day Boarding – for students who reside in regional towns or larger cities in Ireland further afield

Flexi Boarding – for families who may need a level of flexibility, travel for work, or require a flexible weekly arrangement.

If you would like to arrange a meeting with the Admissions Office, please contact us at admissions@headfortschool.com

Day Students

The uniqueness of the Headfort Journey is that our community is truly international. Many of our community members reside locally in County Meath, or closer even, in beautiful Kells. Day students complete the full timetable, alongside their boarding peers, however, do not reside in the House. They do however, from Fifth Form up, have access to flexi-boarding.

With advanced notice the school can accommodate Experience Days for our local students, whose families would like to learn more about the opportunities available at Headfort, and have their child join a class for the day.

To arrange an Experience Day, please contact the office at admissions@headfortschool.com
